Booster pumps raise the water pressure from your JoJo, rainwater or borehole storage tank so that showers, geysers, taps and garden lines run properly. We stock complete booster sets with a pressure switch and tank or a flow switch, from 0.37kW to 2.2kW and from R1,523, plus VSD boosters that hold constant pressure and hot-water circulation pumps for instant hot water at the tap.

Start with the number of bathrooms and whether you water a garden:1 bathroom or a cottage: QB60 0.37kW combo.2–3 bathrooms: QB80 0.75kW or a CPM centrifugal combo for more flow.4+ bathrooms, two storeys or irrigation: 1.1–2.2kW twin-impeller sets, or a 1.1–1.5kW VSD booster for constant pressure.Pressure switch and tank, or flow switch? A pressure tank with a pressure switch is the most reliable set-up and the easiest to repair. A flow switch is more compact and gives slightly steadier pressure but has no reserve, so the pump starts for every tap. VSD boosters give the smoothest pressure and use the least power, which matters if you run the pump from an inverter during load-shedding.Install the booster below the tank outlet with a ball valve and strainer on the suction side, and a non-return valve on the delivery. Keep the suction pipe short and at least the same size as the pump inlet.
Will a booster pump work with my gas or electric geyser?Yes, as long as the pressure stays within the geyser’s rating. Most 400kPa geysers are fine with a 0.37–0.75kW booster. Fit a pressure-reducing valve if you have a 100kPa or 200kPa low-pressure geyser. How much power does a booster pump use?A 0.75kW pump draws about 0.75–1kW while running, but only runs for a few minutes a day. A 0.37kW booster runs on most 1.5kVA–3kVA inverters; a 0.75kW pump needs about 3kVA because of its start-up surge. VSD boosters soft-start and are kinder to inverters. Can I boost pressure from the municipal line?Pumping directly off the mains is not allowed by most municipalities. Feed the booster from a storage tank, which also keeps you in water during outages.Do you deliver and help with sizing?Yes. We courier nationwide and will size the right set for you on WhatsApp 061 744 1001.

Frequently asked questions

What size booster pump do I need for my house?

For a typical 2 to 3 bathroom home a 0.75 kW booster pump giving about 3 bar is enough. Larger homes with 4 or more bathrooms, or homes on two floors, usually need 1.1 kW. Count how many taps and showers run at the same time and WhatsApp us on 061 744 1001 for exact sizing.

What is the difference between a booster pump and a pressure pump?

They do the same job: they increase the water pressure from a tank or weak municipal supply. "Booster pump" usually means a complete kit with a pressure switch or flow controller fitted, ready to connect.

Do I need a pressure tank with a booster pump?

If the pump uses a pressure switch, yes: a pressure tank stops the pump starting every time a tap opens and makes it last longer. Pumps with an electronic flow controller or a VSD can run without a large tank.

How a booster pump fixes low pressure

A booster pump sits after your water tank and pushes water into the house at a steady pressure. It starts automatically when a tap opens and stops when it closes, using a flow controller or a pressure switch with a pressure tank. In most areas a pump may not draw straight from the municipal main, so booster pumps are normally fed from a tank.

Which booster pump size?

  • 0.37kW to 0.55kW – a flat or small home with one bathroom
  • 0.75kW – an average family home with two or three bathrooms
  • 1.1kW to 2.2kW – large homes, guest houses, irrigation and double-storey buildings

Stainless-steel pumps last longer with borehole water and rainwater. For the quietest option with steady pressure at every tap, look at our VSD booster pumps, which only use the power they need.
